History

Shiogama Jinja stands as the foremost shrine of Mutsu Province, boasting the highest rank and prestige in the Tohoku region. Since ancient times, it has enshrined Shiozuchi no Oji no Kami as its principal deity, and has been deeply revered as the deity of salt production and maritime safety.
