Onsen-ji

Onsen-ji is known as the 18th temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, located in Onso-ji Valley in Tano-cho, Komatsushima City. As a sacred site where Kobo Daishi practiced asceticism, it boasts a history of over 1,200 years. True to its name "Onsen" (grace toward parents), it has received special veneration as a temple that deepens appreciation for one's mother and strengthens family bonds. There is also a tradition that Kobo Daishi prayed for his mother's recovery from illness, and many visitors come with wishes related to family health and maternal love. It remains an important temple for pilgrims undertaking the Shikoku pilgrimage route.
