Jisshoji
History
As an ancient temple of the Nichiren sect, it is cradled in the beautiful nature at the foot of the Southern Japanese Alps, a place of demonstrated spiritual efficacy. It is particularly known nationwide for the Jindai Sakura, a cherry tree said to be over 2000 years old, and in spring many people visit to pay their respects to its divine blossoms. The Yamaka Jindai Sakura is counted among Japan's three great cherry trees and has been a sacred tree watching over this land through long ages. The life force and beauty of the cherry blossoms continue to give people hope and courage. The temple grounds are beautiful throughout the seasons and are cherished as a place of healing where one can feel the blessings of nature and the compassion of Buddha.
