Toubessu Jinja
History
Toubessu Jinja is an historic shrine located in Motomachi at the center of Toubessu-cho in Ishikari-gun. Toubessu-cho is a land where full-scale development began in the Meiji period, and it is also known for the settlement of samurai from the Sendai domain under the leadership of Kunishige Date. This shrine is closely connected to the history of development and was likely established as a spiritual support for the settlers. True to the town's name, it has been cherished as a place where prayers are offered for the special character of the Toubessu land, the development of the region, and the peace of its residents. It has continued to watch over the development of the town centered on agriculture, and remains beloved today as a pillar of support for the hearts of Toubessu residents.
