Ōta Hime Inari Jinja
History
The Ōta Hime Inari Jinja enshrined in Kandā Sudacho is an ancient shrine with ties to Ōta Dōkan, the founder of Edo Castle. It is said to have been founded in the late Muromachi period by Ōta Hime, the daughter of Dōkan, and enshrines Ukanomitama no Kami. During the Edo period, as the Inari deity protecting the Kandā region, it gathered the devoted faith of merchants and craftsmen. Having survived the great Meiji fire, the Great Kantō Earthquake, and war damage, it has reached the present day. Though its grounds are small and located in the heart of the city, it attracts many visitors. Positioned in a business district, it is especially cherished by those wishing for business prosperity, and has become a precious shrine that conveys the spirit of old Edo to the present day.
