Izumi Jinja

Izumi Jinja is, as its name suggests, a sacred shrine derived from a clear spring. Since ancient times, it has been revered as a shrine of the water deity and has been a cherished presence supporting the lives of local people through the blessings of pure water. Situated in a residential area of Hitachi, it is intimately loved by residents as their local tutelary deity. Water is the source of life and a symbol of purification, and thus it is said to bring benefits of purification of mind and body and longevity and health. Pure energy still flows through the grounds, and visitors experience a sense of their spirits being cleansed. A shrine truly like a treasure of the region, it guides us to give thanks for the blessings of water and live each day with a clear heart.
