Konpira Jinja

Konpira Jinja is enshrined in Konpira-cho, Numazu, and has been known as a shrine devoted to the deity of maritime transport. Located in the port town of Numazu, it has long gathered the deep faith of those engaged in fishing and maritime commerce. It is said to have been invited from Kotohira-gu in Sanuki, and is known for its benefits of maritime safety and good catches. Enshrined as if watching over Suruga Bay, it has a history of praying for the safety of the seafaring men. Even today, it is beloved by fishermen, sailors, and many who cherish the sea.
