Isogawa Jinja

Isogawa Jinja is said to have been founded during the era of Empress Suiko, making it one of the oldest shrines in Nara with particularly ancient history. As a subsidiary shrine of Oomiwa Jinja and one of the oldest shrines in Nara, it has collected the faith of people for over 1,400 years. Particularly famous throughout the nation as a deity of safe childbirth and child-rearing, it is also affectionately called the "Komori Myojin," the guardian deity of children. The Mifushi Festival (Yuri Matsuri) held annually on June 17 is a beautiful celebration praying for the prevention of epidemics and freedom from disease, attracting many visitors. Located in the heart of Nara, this special shrine conveys the weight of its ancient history and a sacred atmosphere.
