History

Eifukuji is a venerable ancient temple known as the mausoleum of Prince Shōtoku. It is the sacred ground of the 'Three Bones, One Tomb' of the Prince, his mother Empress Anaho-toi Jingū-no-Himemiko, and his consort Izumi-be no Bokikimi, gathering devout faith for over 1,400 years. Also called the 'Prince's Mausoleum' or 'Ishinaga Mausoleum,' it serves as the center of Prince Shōtoku veneration, drawing pilgrims from throughout the nation. The grounds are enveloped in silence, with a sacred atmosphere befitting contemplation of the Prince's virtue.
