Aoki Jinja

Aoki Jinja is the tutelary deity of the Aoki district, enshrined in Miyazaki City. The plant aoki (a type of evergreen) remains green and lush throughout the year, and has long been regarded as a symbol of immortality and longevity and prosperity. This shrine too has a history of watching over the health and prosperity of the local people. Although located within Miyazaki City, its verdant precincts offer a place of respite that allows visitors to forget the bustle of urban life. Carefully maintained by the local parishioners, it is cherished during seasonal festivals as a place that deepens community bonds.
