Kamo Jinja

Kamo Jinja is enshrined in Kita Ward of Saitama City and is a historically significant shrine that enshrines the same deity of the Kamo clan as the Upper and Lower Kamo Shrines of Kyoto. With Wakeikazuchi (Thunder God) as its principal deity, it has long been revered by local people as a god of thunder protection and agriculture. Kamo faith is also known as the god of learning and the arts, attracting many students and cultural figures to pay their respects. Within the grounds, one can enjoy the beautiful seasonal changes of nature, and the spring cherry blossoms are particularly loved by local residents. Though situated in a residential area, it is enveloped in sacred atmosphere, continuing to watch over the lives of many people as a warmly-rooted shrine.
