History

Kanmuri Inari Jinja is counted among Japan's seven great Inari shrines and represents a distinguished ancient shrine founded during the Jowa era of the Heian period. According to tradition, the name "Kanmuri Inari" derives from Minamoto no Yoshiie's offering of his helmet at this shrine during his campaign to subjugate the north, and it is known for its spiritual efficacy in assuring military fortune. Within the shrine grounds stands Atago Jinja, celebrated for bringing about love matches, drawing many pilgrims seeking blessings for fortunate marriages and marital harmony. The shrine's sacred tree, a great zelkova over four hundred years old, has been designated a natural monument of Ota City, and countless visitors place their hands in prayer to receive its life-giving power. This stands as one of the Kanto region's foremost Inari shrines, commanding deep devotion for both commercial success and love.
