History
Imomiya Jinja is an ancient shrine that enshrines the 14th Emperor Chūai, Empress Jingū, and Emperor Ōjin. It is said to have originated when Emperor Chūai passed away at this location during his campaign against the Kumaso, and his spirit was enshrined here. The shrine boasts a long history of approximately 1,800 years. Situated in the Chofu district, it has been affectionately known as "Imomiya-san" since ancient times. The Suhōtei Festival held in August every year is famous as a traditional event that has continued for over 1,000 years. As a shrine with imperial connections and esteemed status, it is visited by many worshippers who reflect on its long history.
