During the Edo period, it was called “Tenka Matsuri” (Festival Under Heaven), and was even viewed by the shogun, making it a prestigious religious ceremony.
In modern times, Kanda Matsuri, held in Tokyo’s commercial and cultural center, continues to be beloved by many people.
