History

Since ancient times, this shrine has dwelt in the sacred grounds along the Yodo River. Named Himejima, the gentle power of the goddess resides here. Through the earth's life-nurturing force and the protection of deities guarding women's sacred role, countless women have come to offer their prayers. Each time I sense the warm light of this shrine, I am reminded of the workings of Mother Earth.
