History
This is an ancient and venerable shrine revered as the tutelary deity of Edo Castle, famous for the Sanno Festival, one of the three great festivals of Edo. It enshrines Oyamakui no Kami and received devout reverence from the Tokugawa shogunate. Enshrined in Nagatacho, the center of politics, it is also known as the "Shrine of Politics" and the "Shrine of Advancement." Even today, political and business leaders visit to pay their respects. It is truly a shrine that tells the history of Edo and Tokyo.

社殿右奥の稲荷参道には朱色の千本鳥居が連なります。末社の猿田彦神社・山王稲荷神社・八坂神社もこの奥にあります。
神門の扉にハート形の「猪の目（いのめ）」文様が彫られており、魔除けの装飾として知られています。鳥居をくぐった後に扉をよく見てみてください。
御朱印を受け取ると参拝記念の栞と木札ストラップが一緒に付いてきます。また復刻版として明治〜平成のデザイン5種類が通年授与されており、歴史ごとに蒐集できます。

徳川家とゆかりの深い神社。山王祭が行われる神社で有名です。また、狛猿が設置されていることも特徴的です。永田町のコンクリートやビルのなかに堂々と佇んでいます。
持病で階段を避けたくて、エスカレーターがある鳥居へ行きました。 本当にありがとうございます。 おかげで息切れせずにすみました。 工事中でしたが参拝もできて良かったです。 海外の方も皆さん茅の輪を行進のようにゾロゾロくぐっていました。 赤い鳥居のトンネルとてもステキでした。
