History
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of approximately 30,000 Inari shrines throughout Japan, boasting a history of over 1,300 years. It enshrines Inari Okami and is revered nationwide as the deity of commercial prosperity and abundant harvests. Most notably famous for the breathtaking sight of thousands of vermillion torii gates covering the entire mountain. The succession of crimson torii along the approach is truly mystical and awe-inspiring. Since the Edo period, it has been venerated by common people, and today attracts many international visitors, making it known worldwide as a representative shrine of Kyoto. A pilgrimage around the mountain will surely purify one's heart.

Tips
Visit Notes
It was busy since we visited at 12pm, but after we walked up for about an hour we were able to get some shots without people in. We got to see the shrine cats, which were very cute. A beautiful shrine and a lovely walk—one of my favorites so far. I didn’t get to do the full hike today, but would love to in the future.
