Fukutoku Jinja, situated in the business district of Nihonbashi, is a shrine with deep history, with a tradition that Tokugawa Ieyasu visited it upon his entry into Edo. During the Edo period, it was also called "Mebuki Inari," and was devoutly worshipped by merchants as an auspicious shrine where new ventures flourish. Even after the Meiji Restoration, it has been cherished as the shrine of commerce in Japan's economic center, and in modern times many business professionals visit to pray for success.
