Rokusho Shrine

Rokusho Shrine, located in Okusa-cho, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, is one of the six prestigious shrines of Iu (Iu Rokkusha). It serves as the Sōsha (general shrine) of Izumo Province, where provincial governors would pay their respects to all local deities in a single visit. The shrine stands on the former site of the Izumo provincial government office. Formerly ranked as a prefectural shrine (kensha), it remains an important center of Izumo faith.
