History
Akagi Jinja is a highly esteemed shrine that reveres Mount Akagi, a renowned peak of Gunma, as its sacred deity. This shrine, situated in Miyayosawa, has long enshrined the divine spirit of Mount Akagi and has flourished as a center of mountain worship faith throughout the Kanto region. The deity of Akagi is said to be a goddess, and is renowned for fulfilling the wishes of women in particular. As a mountain deity, the shrine also serves as a guardian of agriculture and forestry, and has long watched over the lives of the local people.
