History
This shrine, located at the southern foot of Mt. Akagi, has been widely worshipped as Akagi Daimyōjin since ancient times. Although its founding is unknown, legends say that Yamato Takeru no Mikoto visited this area during his eastern expedition and prayed for the pacification of the land. It has also been known as a deity of rain prayers since ancient times, playing an important role in agricultural society. Within the precincts, numerous valuable cultural assets remain, including the main hall and worship hall, which are national important cultural properties. As a center of Mt. Akagi worship, it attracts many worshipers along with the beautiful natural scenery of each season.
