Tsubakihara Tenmangu is a Tenmangu shrine enshrined in Tsubakihara-cho, Kanazawa, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning. Long cherished by local residents as the Tenmangu of this area, it continues to receive visits from students and test-takers. The shrine grounds are planted with plum trees, and as flowers associated with Sugawara no Michizane, they blossom beautifully in spring. As a community-rooted shrine, it has a history of watching over the growth of neighborhood children. Each year, many wooden prayer tablets for academic success are donated, making it a true "sacred place of learning" filled with the earnest wishes of those seeking to achieve their academic goals.
