History
Nanto Kagami Jinja is an ancient shrine located in Takabatake-cho, Nara City, formerly ranked as a village shrine (sonsha). Its enshrined deity is Fujiwara no Hirotsugu, a court official of the Nara period who raised a rebellion in Kyushu and was executed. The shrine is said to have been established to pacify his spirit. Nestled quietly in the Takabatake district, it has long been a place of local veneration and stands as a historical witness to the political upheavals of the Nara era.
