History
Kodoji is an ancient temple located in Kunisaki Town on the Kunisaki Peninsula. The Kunisaki Peninsula is known as the sacred site of Rokugo Manzan Buddhist culture, with many temples having been built from the Heian period onward, making it a land with a long and storied history. Kodoji is one of these temples and has long gathered the faith of local people. The name 'Kodoji' means to flourish through being guided by the Buddha's teachings, and it has been cherished as a temple that guides people toward the correct path. In a serene environment surrounded by the rich nature of Kunisaki, many pilgrims visit seeking peace of mind.
