History
Monoobe Jinja is the head shrine of all Monoobe shrines throughout Japan, enshrining Umashi-maji no Mikoto, the ancestral deity of the Monoobe clan. As a shrine connected to the ancient powerful clan Monoobe, it boasts a long history and prestige as a sacred site. Revered as the Ichinomiya of Iwami Province, it has been deeply respected by the people of this region. It is particularly known for its benefits regarding victory in competitions, martial prowess, and in modern times, success in contests and academic exams.
