senshuu iwa fune jinja

This shrine in Izumisano City, Osaka, was established in connection with the construction of Kansai International Airport. Known formally as Senshu Iwafune-jinja and colloquially as Senshu Koku Jinja (Senshu Aviation Shrine), it enshrines Amenotorifu no Mikoto and Nigihayahi no Mikoto, and is dedicated to prayers for aviation safety and safe passage. The name Iwafune derives from the ancient tradition of deities descending from heaven aboard divine stone boats.
