History
Yurahime Shrine, located in Nishinoshima on the Oki Islands, is a Myojin Taisha listed in the Engishiki and serves as the Ichinomiya (first-rank shrine) of Oki Province. The enshrined deity Yurahimeno Mikoto has long been venerated by the island people as a guardian of fishing and seafaring. Despite its classification as a go-sha in the pre-war shrine ranking system, its spiritual authority as the regional Ichinomiya remains deeply respected.
