Atakaya Jinja

Adakaya Shrine is located in Higashi-Izumo, Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. It is widely known for the Matsue Shiroyama Inari Shikinenshinkosai, a grand ceremonial procession called Horanenya that takes place once every ten years. In this spectacular ritual, portable shrines from three shrines are carried along waterways in solemn procession, preserving ancient forms of prayer deeply rooted in Izumo culture.
