Ryuugankiji

Ryuganjii is a Soto Zen temple with the mountain name Seijouzan, located in Daimon, Inai-cho, Usa City, Oita. Situated near Usa Jingu, it is a sacred site steeped in the culture of syncretism between Shinto and Buddhism. The temple grounds feature large rocks and cave formations that evoke a distinctive spiritual atmosphere, where reverence for the dragon deity and rock worship intertwine. Since ancient times it has been venerated as a deity of water and rain-making, drawing visitors from mountain villages praying for abundant harvests and family safety. The quiet Zen atmosphere of the Soto school coexists with the living history of syncretic faith.
