History
Ōita Gokoku Jinja is a shrine enshrining the spirits of those who gave their precious lives to protect the nation. It is a sacred and solemn place where rest the spirits of those from Ōita Prefecture who died in wars since the Meiji Restoration. The spacious grounds feature a magnificent shrine building and are cherished as a cherry blossom viewing spot. In spring, beautiful cherry blossoms bloom in profusion, and many people visit with gratitude for peace and prayers for safety. Continuing to be beloved by the prefecture's people as an important place to express gratitude to the war dead and to pray for peace and safety.
