History

Byakko

This sacred temple nestled in the bosom of Mount Kojou has received the protection of Kobo Daishi since ancient times. The name 'Henjogaku,' or 'Hall of Illumination,' derives from the Buddhist teaching that the light of Buddha illuminates all existence. Those who visit this place entrust their wishes to sacred talismans that ascend to heaven. The flame of faith rooted in the Tokitsu region remains brilliant even after a thousand years.
