History
Gifu Gokoku Jinja is a shrine that enshrines the heroic spirits of people from Gifu Prefecture who gave their lives in wars since the Meiji Restoration. In particular, from the Seinan Rebellion to the Pacific War, the souls of brave warriors who fell defending their homeland rest peacefully. Founded during the post-war reconstruction, this shrine has become a sacred place visited by many worshippers with prayers for peace and a spirit of gratitude. In spring, cherry blossoms bloom beautifully, and within the serene grounds, one can offer gratitude to the heroic spirits and prayers for peace.
