Hiyoshi Jinja, enshrined on Takayama's Shiroyama, is a venerable shrine affectionately known as Sanno-san. Being positioned on high ground, it offers a spectacular view overlooking the beautiful mountains of Hida. Since ancient times, it has been revered as the guardian deity of the region, especially gathering the faith of people engaged in mountain work as a mountain deity. A cherished shrine rooted in the community, it has walked through Takayama's history.
