Ankoji Temple is an independent temple of the Tendai school located in Takatsuki, Osaka, with the mountain name Nanzan. Its principal image is Nyoirin Kannon, and it is fondly known as the Takatsuki Kannon. Founded in the Nara period, it has long been revered as a sacred site for warding off evil. Each February, a grand outdoor Goma fire ritual draws many worshippers. The temple also serves as a special branch temple of the New Saigoku Pilgrimage.
