Kokufu-miya Jinja is a revered shrine that has long served as the guardian shrine of Hida Province, protecting the region since ancient times. With Onamuji no Mikoto as its principal deity, it has been deeply venerated as the guardian god of Kokufu, which was the political and cultural center of the Hida region. The shrine grounds are shaded by giant trees centuries old, creating a sacred atmosphere. Since ancient times, magnificent festivals have been held to pray for abundant harvests and the peace of the region, and in particular the autumn festival brings together many parishioners in celebration. In this sacred space where the nature and history of Hida come alive, quiet prayer will surely allow one to feel the protection of the kami.
