Byakko

Founded in 689 during the reign of Emperor Tenmu, this temple has long been venerated for healing eye ailments. Throughout the Heian period, nobility and commoners alike sought its blessings. The temple houses ancient trees, including a black holly over 500 years old. Generations have paid homage here, finding solace and healing through centuries of fervent prayers.
