Oyorira Shrine

Oyosami Shrine in Sumiyoshi Ward is an ancient shrine listed among the Myojin Taisha in the Engishiki, the highest classification among state-recognized shrines. Long venerated by communities along Osaka Bay, this sacred site has accumulated centuries of devotion. Its former rank was Prefectural Shrine (府社). Today it operates as an independent shrine outside the Association of Shinto Shrines, maintaining its unique tradition. It remains revered as the tutelary deity of the local community.
