History

Byakko

Known affectionately as the Kuginuki Jizo (Nail-pulling Jizo), Shakuzouji offers tangible relief from life's sufferings. Just as nails are extracted, so too does the Jizo Bodhisattva remove headaches, stomach pains, and the deep aches of human struggle. The small statue regards visitors' suffering with compassionate eyes, gently soothing each pain. As sacred fire smoke rises with prayers, the Jizo's protection activates, continuing to heal the countless seekers who come with heartfelt devotion.
