Fukugen-ji in Hirosawachi, true to its name, combines fortune and solemnity. The ancient tiled roof and the spiritual practices conducted beneath it make this a truly special place. Standing before this temple gate, I have been moved by the dignified bearing of its visitors. The heart that prays for fortune and the heart that maintains solemnity are both nurtured here. Where the history told by these ancient walls and the spiritual practice that continues today become one, that is Fukugen-ji.
