History
This shrine, located in Tenjincho, Kiryu City, is Tenmangū, which enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning. Its founding is said to date back to the Eikyō era of the Muromachi period, and it has gathered the faith of many people as a god of academic achievement and prayer for passing exams since ancient times. The main hall possesses a calm dignity and exudes a serene atmosphere. Plum trees are planted within the precincts, reminiscent of Michizane. In particular, during the examination season, many students from all over the country visit to pray for success. It is a shrine deeply worshipped by the local people as the god of learning.
