Byakko

Hokongoin is a temple of the Ritsu sect located in Hanazono, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City. The mountain name is Goinzan and the principal image is Amitabha Buddha. A section of the Pure Land garden on the grounds contains Seijo-no-taki (the Blue Woman Waterfall), which is considered the oldest artificial waterfall in Japan and has been designated a Special National Scenic Site. The temple is situated at the eastern foot of Narabigaoka, a place long known for its scenic beauty, with famous temples and historical sites including Myoshinji and Ninnaji nearby.
