Mishima-Kamo Shrine in Takatsuki, Osaka, is a candidate for the ancient Shikinaisha listed in the Engishiki. Once holding the rank of Gosha, it carries a long and distinguished history. According to shrine tradition, it was counted alongside Oyamazumi Shrine in Iyo and Mishima Taisha in Izu as one of the Three Mishima Shrines, said to be Japan first Mishima Shrine. Before the 17th century it was known as Ikushima Daimyojin. Revered as a guardian deity of agriculture along the Yodogawa river basin, it has been deeply venerated by the local community.
