History
Takehara Sumiyoshi Jinja is an ancient shrine located in the beautiful port town of Takehara, facing the Seto Inland Sea. It enshrines the three Sumiyoshi deities and has long been revered by sailors and fishermen as a guardian deity for maritime safety and navigation. Takehara flourished in the Edo period through salt production, and it is said that those involved in salt transportation and trade prayed for safe navigation. Today, it continues to watch over the beautiful waters of the Seto Inland Sea and is cherished as a deity supporting the region's prosperity.
