Ono Jinja is a shrine situated in Ono, a castle town nestled in the mountains of Echizen. From the Sengoku period through the Edo period, the land of Ono flourished as an important base, and this shrine has long been revered as the guardian deity of the region. As the place name Meirintsu-cho suggests, this area was also a center of learning and culture. It has long watched over Ono, a basin surrounded by mountains, and has protected the people of this land blessed with clear water and abundant nature.
