History

Gojounomiya is a shrine in Tennoji Ward, Osaka, and is the only shrine in Japan dedicated to Emperor Bidatsu, the 30th emperor and ancestor of the Tachibana clan. Its former shrine rank was village shrine. Though a modest sanctuary amid the urban bustle of Osaka, its lineage runs deep, having long received the devotion of the Tachibana clan. It continues to be maintained as a guardian shrine for the local community.
