History

Ichihime Shrine is the only Kyoto sanctuary dedicated exclusively to goddesses, its sacred foundation established to protect and honor women throughout history. Countless women have made pilgrimage at life's crucial moments, offering prayers for safe childbirth, fertility blessings, and the fulfillment of auspicious relationships. Honored by the noble ladies of the imperial court, this shrine has continually stood as guardian and protector of women through all the ages of Kyoto's illustrious history. Four divine goddesses are enshrined within, their compassionate gaze continuing to bestow strength, grace, and divine protection upon all women who seek their blessing.
