History

Byakko

This shrine has been enshrined in Serata since ancient times and is revered as the general guardian of Gion faith. Although its founding is unknown, it is said to have been enshrined by Minamoto no Yoshimitsu (Shinra Saburō Yoshimitsu). In the past, the Gion Festival was held on a grand scale, and it was the center of regional faith. The main hall is in the Myōjin-zukuri style and exudes a calm dignity. There are many subordinate shrines and sub-shrines within the precincts, and it is still deeply worshipped as an entity deeply rooted in the lives of the local people. It is a historic shrine with a quiet and calm atmosphere.
