Myotsu-ji Goho Jinja is a shrine enshrining the protective deities of Myotsu-ji, an ancient temple of Wakasa. As guardian spirits of the Buddhist temple, these sacred deities have watched over the temple for many years. Myotsu-ji is said to have been founded in the Heian period, and the protective deities enshrined there guard the Buddhist dharma and pray for the spiritual peace of worshippers. This is a precious place where one can feel the profound depth of Japanese spiritual culture that has continued since the era of syncretism between Shinto and Buddhism. It is best to purify one's mind and offer prayers in the quiet precincts.
