History

Byakko

Karasu-no-miya Shrine, located in Denpo, Konohana Ward, Osaka, was founded in 1215 (Kenpo 3) as the Demoto-jinsha at the heart of Denpo village. In 1592 (Bunkyu 1), when Toyotomi Hideyoshi visited to pray for safe travel, three-legged crows appeared from the forest behind the shrine and displayed auspicious omens. Moved by this blessing upon his safe return, Hideyoshi bestowed the name Karasu-no-miya (Crow Shrine) and the shrine was relocated to the forest where the crows nested. The main deity is Amaterasu Omikami, with Sumiyoshi Okami, Hiruko Okami, and Okinagatarashihime-no-mikoto enshrined alongside. The main hall, worship hall, middle gate, and surrounding fence are registered as national tangible cultural properties.
