History

Byakko

This shrine was established in 1957 within the precincts of Kurumazaki Shrine in Saga, Kyoto. Enshrined here is Ame-no-Uzume-no-Mikoto, the ancestral deity of the performing arts. Since ancient times she has governed music, dance, and artistic expression. Today she draws devotion from those in film, television, and music, with some 4,000 vermillion wooden plaques donated by artists and performers surrounding the sanctuary.
